Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman (second
from left) is being briefed by Stan Ovshinsky,
President and CTO of ECD Ovonics and Chairman
and CEO of United Solar Ovonic, on the
technology of thin-film triple-junction photovoltaic
solar panels during a tour of the existing United
Solar Ovonic plant in Auburn Hills, MI. Stan
indicated that, during the roll-to-roll
manufacturing process, nine miles of solar cells
are deposited in 72 hours
